INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION HONORS
FRANCHISE BUSINESSWOMAN WITH CRYSTAL COMPASS

WASHINGTON, D.C. Feb. 13, 2011―Dina Dwyer-Owens, CFE, chairwoman and CEO of the Dwyer Group, Inc., was honored today by the International Franchise Association’s Women’s Franchise Committee with the Crystal Compass during the association’s 51st Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

With more than 1,550 franchise owners around the world, The Dwyer Group's concepts include Aire Serv Heating & Air Conditioning, Mr. Rooter Plumbing (Drain Doctor in the United Kingdom and Portugal), Mr. Electric, Mr. Appliance, Glass Doctor, and Rainbow International Restoration and Cleaning. In total, The Dwyer Group franchise network will take in approximately $800 million in system-wide revenues this year, which Dwyer-Owens attributes a good part of that success to the company's Code of Values. Ethics in business, as described in her book, “Live R.I.C.H.,” and the franchise’s innovative approach to exceed the expectations of customers have advanced the company.

During her tenure as IFA’s 2009 chairwoman, Dwyer-Owens spoke about the benefits of franchising across the United States and as far away as China.  She also led the relaunching of the VetFran program with the help of IFA, encouraging franchisors to offer the best financial incentives to military veterans looking to own a franchise. For her achievements, Dwyer-Owens has been featured in the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Working Mother, CNN, Inc. magazine, Fox News and more. She serves on the board of Lead like Jesus and Grace Giving International.  

An individual within the franchising community who epitomizes the ideals of leadership and has earned a reputation for leadership is selected to receive the Crystal Compass.  Individuals chosen for this honor have made significant contributions within their respective franchise organizations, the franchising community in general and in their local communities.
